6 reasons for choosing us
If this is your first visit to the city, and you want to get to know the main points of interest, book one of the tours organised in association with Bologna Welcome, which will enable you to discover everything this regional capital has to offer.
This is what you will be able to see.
If you only have a few hours to spend in Bologna but you would like to get to know the essence of the old city centre, an expert professional guide will unlock the secrets of this medieval city, defined by UNESCO as one of the best conserved in the world.
You can explore Bologna in two hours. Find out about its history, stroll along its arcaded streets, and view its chief monuments and the towers.
This tour, which lasts about two hours, can be organised every day, all year round.
The meeting place will be Bologna Welcome, and a guide who speaks Italian and English will accompany you to explore Piazza Maggiore, take a look inside the Basilica of San Petronio, visit the old market area of Piazza della Mercanzia, and view the inside of the church of Santa Maria della Vita and the Archiginnasio old university building, ending at the Two Towers.
Another tour which may be of interest to you is that of the Two Towers. You will be able to climb to the top of the Asinelli Tower, the taller of the two. At no less than 97.2 metres, it was built between 1109 and 1119 to symbolise the status of the family whose name it bears. The City authorities acquired ownership of the Tower in the next century. It was both a lookout tower and a defensive stronghold. Its military purpose is obvious from the porch, also known as the “rocchetta” or “little fortress”, built around its square base in 1488 as quarters for the sentinels who manned the tower. The Two Towers are the most distinctive feature of Bologna’s skyline. The view from the top of the Asinelli Tower is breath-taking and the climb is unique and unforgettable.
This tour operates all year and lasts about 45 minutes.
Like the other tours we offer you, this tour is organised in association with Bologna Welcome, and can be booked through our hotel.
