If you are interested in cuisine, we recommend Fico & The City, which introduces you, in a single day, to the city’s most famous landmarks and the world’s largest agri food park: FICO Eataly World.
The tour starts in the heart of the city, in piazza Maggiore, and explores the most authentic, “real” Bologna, tracing centuries of history through the city’s most fascinating monuments, buildings and streets. Sights visited include Piazza Maggiore and the Neptune Fountain, the Basilica of San Petronio, the historic Archiginnasio university building, the Quadrilatero market, the Two Tower, the Jewish Ghetto, the Prendiparte Tower, the Finestrella di Via Piella with its glimpse of the city’s canals, and main thoroughfare Via Indipendenza.
Then we move on to FICO Eataly World, the world’s largest agri food park, which encapsulates the wonders of Italian biodiversity on a 10 hectare site, with 2 hectares of open-air fields and sheds accommodating more than 200 animals, 2000 different crops and buildings of 8 hectares housing: 40 factories; more than 45 catering outlets; shops and markets; areas for sport, children, reading and facilities; 6 classrooms, and 6 large educational carousels – on the subjects of fire, land, sea, animals, wine and the future.
The tour of the centre of Bologna is on foot, with a specialised guide. Travel to FICO is by means of the FICObus shuttle. You will then have free time for lunch in one of the agri food park’s catering outlets. This will be followed by a guided tour of FICO, with tastings of typical products and visits to the on-site production areas. You will then return to Bologna by FICObus, at a time of your choice.
